MORTON manager Jim Duffy is wary of the threat Dundee United pose his side on Saturday, despite their poor recent run of form.

The Tangerines, one place behind the Ton in fourth, one point behind Morton in third, but with two games in hand, head to Cappielow tomorrow having only won one game in their last seven league outings, their last win away to Queen of the South on March 13.

And while they may not be in red-hot form, the Ton manager is well aware of the threat the misfiring side pose as the teams head into the final stretch of the regular season.

He told the Tele: “Dundee United are having a bit of a frustrating time at the moment, when you look at the quality they’ve got in their ranks and the strength of their squad they’ve got good players.

But like any good players you can lose your way for a little bit, but football is a game where it just takes one moment in a game and you’re up and running.

“If you look at this division the two teams who have been the most consistent by a country mile have been St Mirren and Livingston, St Mirren in particular, they haven’t had any great dips.

"They’ve had the odd loss but they’ve always managed to bounce back, whereas everyone else has had three or four games, or beyond that.

“Everyone else has had little moments, and at this moment in time Dundee United are not firing on all cylinders.

“But it just takes one game, one moment, to bounce back and we’ve got to make sure it doesn’t happen against us on Saturday.”

United manager Csaba Lazlo brought in former Rangers defender Bilil Moshni to strengthen his squad earlier this month to help with their busy fixture list.

The bad weather this season has particularly affected the Tannadice side, and Saturday’s game will be their sixth game this month, with three midweek games and three weekend games.

It has forced Dundee United to change their formation and personnel on numerous occasions, and Duffy will do his best to counter whichever side the Tangerines field on Saturday.

He added: “By Csaba’s own admissions he’s been trying to find that formula, and get that bit of momentum again.

“You’re not 100 per cent sure what you’re up against with Dundee United because they’ve changed their shape a little bit, they’ve had three at the back in the last few games, will it remain like that? We don’t know.

“They’ve changed the personnel a little bit in the last couple of games as well.

“We’re not quite sure how they’ll set up against us, but nevertheless we do know all the players, its just how he fits them in will be the question.

“You can’t focus too much on the opposition though, you’ve obviously got to be aware of them, aware of their strengths and go about your own business, that’s all you can do.”
