MORTON midfielder Gary Fraser says he was relieved to net his first goal in over two and a half years — because he feared he would never score again.

Fraser levelled for the Ton and it made Tuesday night’s 3-2 victory over Dumbarton even sweeter for the 24-year-old.

Fraser has had numerous injury troubles over the last few seasons and last scored for Partick Thistle against Kilmarnock back in November 2015.

The Thistle loanee is now hoping he can play a key part in Morton’s bid to secure a play-off place.

He said: “It was just pure relief after two years when I celebrated my goal.

“I didn’t think I’d see that happening again, so it was brilliant.

“It’s amazing to be involved again.

“I was tired towards the end of the game, I had two weeks out and then I was back in again. It’s hard, especially after being out for two years.

“I just need a run of consistent games to get back to what I do best, there’s only three games left until the end of the season, so we need to see how it goes.”
