MORTON goalkeeper Conor Brennan says he wants to extend his stay with the club.

The 24-year-old came in for his second start of the season on Saturday in their 1-0 loss to Queen of the South, with number one Derek Gaston ruled out with a hand injury.

The Northern Irishman joined the club back in January to provide cover after Jamie McGowan injured his shoulder, with Brennan’s current deal only running until the summer.

The former Ballymena United goalkeeper wants to stay with the Greenock side next season.

He told the Tele: “My contract’s up at the end of the season, so going forward I’ll hopefully sit down with Jim over the next couple of weeks and see what his plans are going forward.

“But at the moment I haven’t signed anything.

“I like it here and it’s a good club.

“If all goes to plan I’d like to be back here next season.

“I’m used to Scottish football after being with Raith and Kilmarnock, I enjoy it here and I know the league quite well, which is a benefit.

“I need to get as many games as I can under my belt and if I’m asked to stay then brilliant.”
