MORTON stars Michael Tidser and Gary Harkins unveiled the Greenock club’s new home strip — as voted for by Ton supporters.

The winning design of the Tele and Morton’s 2018-19 home kit competition was Gavin McIntosh’s novel take on the famous Ton hoops.

Gavin’s entry emerged as the fans’ favourite in the competition conducted via the Telegraph and a public ballot in Smiths of Greenock, amassing 69 per cent of the vote.

Fans will get to see Jim Duffy’s men play in the new strip for the first time when they take on Inverness Caley Thistle in their final game of the season on Saturday at Cappielow.

Morton chief executive Warren Hawke said: “For the last two strips we went to the fans, and said ‘go on, you design and choose it’.

“The players and supporters are going to wear it so we want it to be a strip that everyone is proud of, and I think it’s happened again with this one.

“Credit to Gavin McIntosh, it’s a design that’s certainly caught the eye. There were a couple of other old style retro strips in there as well but it was this one that was chosen.

“It was a bit of a landslide from the supporters, so we’re delighted for Gavin.

“It will go on sale this Saturday at 10am from Smiths of Greenock, and people will be able to pre-order the kit from Wednesday online from the shop as well.

“This Saturday against Inverness the first team will be wearing the strip for the first time so I’m looking forward to it in full view and we’ll be showcasing it hopefully with Morton picking up three points.”
