MORTON midfielder Michael Tidser admits he was ‘shocked’ when he heard manager Jim Duffy had left the club.

The Ton announced on Sunday the 59-year-old’s four-year spell as manager had come to an end.

Tidser is one of only three players, alongside Robert Thomson and Bob McHugh, who are signed up for next year.

While the midfielder was surprised at Duffy leaving the Cappielow side, he has no doubt the former Dundee boss will find another job in no time.

He told the Tele: “I’m surprised, like most of the boys are. The gaffer was a top guy, and really understanding away from football as well as on in the pitch.

“I have nothing but kind words to say about him, I was a bit shocked. Off the park he was great with me, whenever I needed time off or time with the family he was always good to me in that way. I have nothing but admiration for him.

“He spoke to us after the game and said the boys that are under contract to enjoy the break and get your heads ready for pre-season and we go again. We were probably just as surprised as the fans.

“But these things happen in football, it’s happened millions of times before and it’ll happen again.

“I’ve no doubt the gaffer will get himself sorted out and he’ll be back in a job soon.”
