MORTON have a goalkeeping crisis ahead of tomorrow's match at Somerset Park.

On-loan stopper Bryn Halliwell was taken to hospital on Wednesday after passing blood following Tuesday night's cup defeat at Ross County and must be a huge doubt, while regular goalkeeper Kevin Cuthbert seems unlikely to have recovered sufficiently from a broken foot to step gingerly back in between the posts.

Cappielow boss Davie Irons said: "Bryn has been detained in hospital. He took a knock on Tuesday and after the game was passing blood. I don't think it's overly serious, I certainly hope not. We'll just have to wait and see what advice we get." With Kevin Cuthbert still out with a broken foot, it looks as if it may well be another appearance for youngster Ryan McWilliams. Said Irons: "If pressed I would imagine it's probably going to have to be Ryan in goal. But he acquitted himself well last week, so we know he can do it.

"It's been unbelievable bad luck, losing three goalkeepers since July." Irons also bemoaned the chances his side had missed in recent games. He said: "I thought we played well at Dundee, I didn't think we deserved to lose against Dunfermline and it was the same on Tuesday night.

"We've been making chances, but we have to make sure we are tight at the other end. We have lost two goals in each of our last two games and we had prided ourselves on being tighter at the back. That has given me food for thought. We have been losing goals from wide areas and it may be that a back three will be better than a four.

"I'm definitely thinking of going back to 3-5-2. Having said that, I have been pleased with the performances and, if we had taken our chances, we would have won these games. Brian Graham has had five chances in two games, but at least he has been getting chances, and it hasn't affected him which is good.

"Our luck has been terrible, but it will come." The manager again made the point of the number of away games his team have in the opening stage of the season and reiterated his sympathy for the travelling support.
