FRUSTRATIng times: Ton management duo James Grady and Allan McManus have another matchless Saturday.
HAVING tried, and failed, to get last Saturday's postponed game against Airdrie played tomorrow at Cappielow, Morton have an unwanted free Saturday.
Ton assistant boss Allan McManus told the Telegraph: "We tried to get Airdrie to play but, for whatever reason, they weren't having it."
And McManus revealed that ex-Coventry forward Donovan Simmonds, who has been training at Cappielow, will get a further chance to impress.
"We played a bounce game against Hamilton [on Wednesday] which we won 4-1. It was really just to top up our fitness levels and let everyone have some game time."
And Simmonds, 21, grabbed one of the goals. "We are still keeping an eye on him," said McManus. "He scored a good goal. We'll try to get him another game.
"We have to make sure we get people in for the right reasons."
In all his years in the game, McManus has rarely been so frustrated with the chaos caused by the weather. He said: "It's a real pain. I can't remember it ever being so bad.
"The games are now going to come thick and fast."
Morton suffered some late set-backs in the last few hours of the transfer window when several deals fell through in the mad scramble among players to find clubs.
They did fix up former Partick player Kevin McKinlay, who can play in several positions, but looks set to occupy the left-back berth.
Fitness-wise, there are no injury worries and McManus said: "We're going to need a full squad in the weeks ahead."
