Grady: Time to win our battles
MORTON boss James Grady has moved on from the disappointment of last week's loss at Ayr to the immediate task in hand - the restoration of some pride at Inverness tomorrow.
His side are now in second bottom position in the First Division after Ayr followed up their victory of last Saturday with another priceless three points on Wednesday night against Partick Thistle.
Morton's loss to Ayr was a sore one to take, more for the manner of it than anything else, but Grady was determined to look positively at the situation.
He said: "We're right in among it now. Ayr have upped the ante by taking 10 points out of a possible 12.
"That's good going in this league by any standards and a great achievement for them.
"But we have talked about what went wrong and now we have to rectify it. We move on and we are now in a league of four. Our aim has to be to win that league."
That league comprises Raith Rovers, Ayr, Morton and Airdrie - the four clubs embroiled in a dog-fight at the wrond end of the table.
Grady continued: "We have shown that we can win games by battling and also by playing good football.
"Now it's time to get that out and prove we can do it consistently.
"I was angry after last Saturday, but I was right to be. No one can say after that performance that they've done enough.
"We've digested it, analysed it and we made enough chances to win any game. Now the players who are picked for tomorrow have the chance to make up our minds as to who should be in the team.
"We [Allan McManus and Grady] watched Ayr on Wednesday night and they won on pure work-rate.
" Thistle had chances - a bit like us - and didn't take them.
"We need to get back to matching every team we play on commitment and win the battle.
"The players have proved on occasions that they have got it. Now they have to do it every game."
Grady would not reveal what changes, if any, will be made to his selection, but skipper Stewart Greacen has to be replaced as he is now suspended.
The boss confirmed that Kevin McKinlay, David MacGregor and Neil MacFarlane are available and fit for selection.
On McKinlay, he said: "He has worked as hard as he can in training, and we'll have to see if he steps in tomorrow."
