The 21-year-old Celtic youth-team product was brought to the club in January 2010 by then-manager James Grady after a short spell with Swedish side Ostersunds FK.
And with his original 18-month contract due to expire next month and other clubs circling, Allan Moore has tied him to the club until May 2014.
Tidser told the Tele: "I recently signed a three-year deal, and I'm over the moon as I love playing for Morton.
"I spoke to my agent and then the gaffer and the chairman and they told me their plans and it was all really positive.
"The gaffer is good to me. He shows a lot of faith in me and stuck by me even when I went through a sticky patch earlier in the season.
"There were other clubs interested in me, but I didn't hesitate to sign a new deal here.
"I've only just turned 21, and I'm playing every week. That's me played 35 or 36 games so far this season, and I believe staying here is the best thing for my development as a player."
Ton boss Moore is thrilled to have secured Tidser's services and revealed he will be a key figure for his team in the coming years.
He said: "Michael has signed a new deal with us which will keep him here for the foreseeable future.
"He's another year wiser now and mature for his age, but sometimes we've got to remember he came here from Celtic under-19s and went straight into the First Divison, which is a tough league.
"We're delighted to have him signed up, as he's a player we want to build a team around."
