MORTON trialist Martin Hardie is awaiting news of whether he has earned a Cappielow contract after featuring in a closed doors match on Tuesday.

The midfielder was one of six trialists to line up against Romanian club Rapid Bucharest - playing 45-minutes in the 5-2 loss at Grangemouth.

Hardie is a free agent since his release by relegated Dunfermline Athletic, the club he helped reach the SPL just two seasons ago.

The 36-year-old started out at Queen's Park before subsequent spells at East Stirling, Partick Thistle, Kilmarnock and Airdrie United.

The veteran also spent five years at St Johnstone - where Hardie won his first Scottish First Division Championship medal in 2009.

Hardie said: "I've been in training with Morton and I played in the game against the Romanian team.

"I played 45 minutes. I'll just have to wait and see what the manager's plans are and see if there is anything on the table."
