O'Ware back after injury lay-off

THOMAS O’Ware returned to action in a friendly match against Rangers on Thursday to end a four-month injury lay-off.

The 20-year-old was diagnosed with severe bruising and a fracture in the bone in the sole of his foot during pre-season training.

But after a lengthy period spent in a cast, the defender was passed fit to play against the Ibrox outfit’s Under-18 squad in a bounce match at Murray Park.

A Ton side made up entirely of development squad players, with the exception of O’Ware, won 3-2, with Aidan Fulton and David McNeil, who scored two, getting the goals.

Ton assistant Mark McNally was in attendance and said: “Thomas completed around 50 minutes against Rangers Under-18s on Thursday.

“He is ahead of schedule so we’re delighted with that.

“He was looking good.

“Physically speaking, he was looking bigger and stronger, even from last year, and there was no reaction to the injury.

“We’re pleased he’s back in training and got a game under his belt.

“It’s another boost to the squad as we continue to get players back.”
