STRIKER Archie Campbell has wished Morton all the best after he turned down the contract extension tabled by the club to sign for Championship outfit Dumbarton.

The frontman had spent time on trial with Raith Rovers and featured in a friendly against Edinburgh City but failed to win a deal at Stark’s Park.

He then turned his attentions to the Sons, for whom he impressed in pre-season matches against Hamilton Accies and Partick Thistle, earning a one-year contract from Ian Murray.

Campbell, 23, links up with Andy Graham, Mark McLaughlin and Scott Taggart in a growing ex-Ton contingent at the Bet Butler Stadium.

He said: “I’m delighted to have signed for Dumbarton for the new season and buzzing to get started.

“It’s a massive league to be involved in. I would like to wish everyone at Morton all the best in future. I loved my time at the club and will miss everyone associated with the club.” Campbell spent three seasons at Cappielow, in which time he scored 26 goals in 47 starts and 56 substitute appearances.
