A SECOND French striker has joined Morton on trial and featured in a closed-doors game against Celtic on Wednesday, the Tele can reveal.

Ton lost 3-0 to a strong side, including the likes of Nir Biton, Derk Boerrigter, Tony Watt, Dylan McGeouch, John Herron and Darnell Fisher.

The unnamed frontman partnered his 20-year-old compatriot who scored a double in Monday’s bounce match against St Mirren.

Manager Jim Duffy was pleased with their performances but is unlikely to make a decision on the pair before tomorrow’s match with Spartans.

He told the Tele: “It was a very tough match played in intense heat and we lost 3-0, with two of those goals coming late in the match, but I was delighted with the players.

“Celtic had several million pounds worth of talent playing, so from our point of view it was a real education for our young players.

“Ricki Lamie got about 55 minutes and Reece Hands played for about 85 minutes, but the rest of the boys were our under-20s really.

“We had a couple of trialists playing too. They were both front players and it was tough because they spent a lot of time chasing the Celtic backline and didn’t get much of the ball.

“But I can look at certain aspects of their movement, their touch, their technique and how they dealt with things when they did have opportunities and make judgements from there.

“I spoke to the guys after the game and said we’ll have a wee think about what we might do going forward. I’ve made enquiries and we’ll see what happens over the next week or so.”
