DELIGHTED Forfar boss Dick Campbell felt Reece Hands’ late goal took the shine off his side’s win and insisted the 3-2 scoreline flattered Morton.

After going in at the break level, the home side came back out and created several chances over the course of a dismal second half for Jim Duffy’s men.

The Loons scored twice, through Danny Denholm and Gavin Swankie, but were left holding on for the three points when Ton substitute Hands converted in the final minute.

Campbell felt there was more than a goal of a difference in the game and insisted his side showed what they are capable of with an impressive attacking display.

He said: “I’m absolutely delighted with the three points. It’s a great result.

“We’ve beaten the two full-time teams — Dunfermline and Morton — and convinced everybody we’ve got a good side.

“And we do have a good side.

“We applied ourselves properly and I thought we deserved to win the game.

“But 3-2? I don’t want to be disrespectful but I thought the scoreline was false.

“Anybody looking at it from the outside would think it was a right tight game.

“It looks tight because of the late goal but we had so many chances to bury the game.

“I didn’t think it was as tight as that but it ended up that way and we were nearly punished for a couple of lapses.” Striker Swankie tormented the Ton over the 90 minutes, netting twice. And Campbell insisted he is a man who should be playing at a higher level.

Campbell raved: “Gavin Swankie ... I’ve worked with a lot of strikers in my time: Stevie Crawford, Owen Coyle, Jimmy Bone and all those boys.

“Gavin’s up there with any of them. He’s too good for this level.

“What a player he is. I thought he was magnificent today. The third goal, with the outside of the right foot? Only Swankie could do that.”
