A BRAVE Morton midfielder has fought back from a horrible injury to catch the attention of Scotland Under-15s performance coach Brian McLaughlin.

It is almost a year to the day that Under-15 ace Euan Taylor was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation after a collision in a friendly match against Rangers at Murray Park.

The 14-year-old Houston lad suffered dislocations and fractures of both the fibula and tibia and required a metal plate to be fitted.

But Taylor has now fought his way back to full fitness and made such a sensational comeback that his performances have caught the attention of Scotland selectors.

Under-15s coach Pat McIlvogue told the Tele: “Euan has returned from a broken leg this year and was tremendous playing the right wing-back role in a recent match against Clyde.

“Euan’s speed, fitness, technique, quick feet and quality delivery saw him create chance after chance for his team-mates.

“His wing play was magnificent and attracted the attention and positive comments of a Scotland Under-15s coach, who thought the display was of the highest standard.

“I’m absolutely delighted for Euan. He has battled through a difficult injury and grows stronger and more confident by the week. He deserves high praise.” Club development consultant Warren Hawke added: “Young Euan suffered a dislocation and fracture of the tib and fib and needed an emergency operation last season.

“I was at the Clyde match recently and in the last half hour of the game he was continuously getting to the bye-line and delivering the kind of crosses I used to dream of as a player.

“Brian McLaughlin from the SFA was also there taking in the game. He came up to me with about five minutes to go and asked about Euan.

“That is a real testament to the boy’s character, having been able to come through that dark phase that accompanies a serious injury and bounce back in the way he has.

“Real credit must go to Euan for getting himself fit and back playing to the level that we’ve always known he is capable of.”
