MORTON’S local players have been caught up in the misery caused by Inverclyde’s recent flood chaos, manager Jim Duffy has revealed.

The likes of Sean Crighton, David McNeil, Robbie Crawford and Craig Knight usually arrive at Parklea bright and early after a relatively short drive from their homes.

But while their out-of-town based team-mates have had no trouble getting to training, the local lads, as well as some backroom staff, have been struggling despite their handy location.

Duffy told the Tele: “It’s been quite strange. All the boys based on the Glasgow side of Parklea managed to get in to training on time.

“But all the local boys from the Greenock side, who stay five minutes away, were in traffic for about two hours with the roads shut off and flooded.

“Our kitman Andy [Bryan] and physio Alyson [Fielding] left their houses about 8am on Tuesday and didn’t get in until half 10!

“So it’s been quite strange, but the benefit of the artificial surface at Parklea is that we have had no problems with the weather. The training conditions have been perfect; it’s just the travel that has been horrible.”
