The Cappielow clash was screened live on specialist Gaelic language television channel BBC Alba, and the 22-year-old made sure to record the encounter on his set-top box.

Although he was delighted with the win and keen to give the match a second viewing, Kilday made sure to fast forward through a less than impressive first-half performance.

He told the Tele: “Saturday was a great result for us. I’m buzzing with it.

“It’s a massive win for us to beat Dunfermline.

“We’ve taken nine points off them now and seem to play at our best against them. I know we weren’t really great in the first half. They had a couple of chances and could have taken the lead. We played a 4-3-3 in the first half.

“That was the first time we had played that this season and I don’t think it really worked too well. But the gaffer pushed Ross [Caldwell] up in support of Peaso [Peter MacDonald] for the second half and I thought it worked better.

“The two of them obviously linked up for the goals.

“At half-time the gaffer also said we had to go back out and be more aggressive and stamp our authority on the game. I thought we did that.

“It was great to win on the TV. Everybody’s happy with that. My aunty usually comes to the games but my family just watched it on the telly. They stay in Baillieston so it’s a bit of a drive for them.

“I recorded it and watched a wee bit of it when I went home on Saturday night. I didn’t watch that first half back. I just watched the second half!” As part of the back four, the right-back helped the Ton to their eighth clean sheet of the current campaign.

It was their first shutout since a 1-0 win at Airdrie back on 15 November last year, and Kilday admitted it was a long time coming.

He added: “It was good for the defence to keep a clean sheet. I thought the back four did really well and Gats’ save at 1-0 was a great save.

“That has helped us get the clean sheet and win us the game. I couldn’t tell you the last time we scored first in a game, never mind kept a clean sheet. I think it was the Stenny game at Cappielow when I got the two goals [that we last opened the scoring]. I’m not even too sure about that — it was so long ago!

“But it’s going well for us at the moment. Saturday was good for the confidence and hopefully we can build on it.”
