The versatile defender was used as an auxiliary striker in the early part of the campaign and netted with a coolly taken 92nd-minute strike to clinch all three points right at the death.

And the 21-year-old admits he would accept another late, late show this afternoon if it means getting another big result at Balmoor.

He told the Tele: “The gap is down to a point now and there is us, Forfar, Stranraer and Brechin all right in the running for the league.

“It’s another massive game today, not an easy place to go, and as a lot of teams will tell you: you never go up there and get an easy game.

“But it’s one we need to take three points from. We need to take the game in our stride, win the battle first and then hopefully go and perform. We won up there earlier in the season. It was the third game and we have them in the last game of the season, so the games against Peterhead have been strung out.

“It feels like a long time ago, but from a personal point of view it felt great to get the winner that day. The celebrations were a bit of a blur.

“It was really important for us at the time because we’d lost the first game of the season [away at Ayr United]. We needed the points.

“You always know you have that massive journey back down the road ahead of you, and it’s not something you want to do after a defeat. So I’d take the same again today in a heartbeat. If we can pick up another win, getting six points up there in a season is good going.” As the matchwinner, O’Ware received the adulation of the travelling support last time out, but he insists he doesn’t care who gets the glory this time around.

He added: “It doesn’t have to be me who scores the goal this time.

“As long as we pick up as many points [as we can] between now and the end of the season and pick up that league winners’ medal, that’s all I’m worried about it.”
