When the midfielder agreed to join Morton following his release by Inverness Caley Thistle last May, the initial indication was that it would be for one year.
However, the 20-year-old has revealed that he penned a two-year contract to tie himself to the Ton until the summer of 2016 after further negotiation with manager Jim Duffy.
Pepper told the Tele: “I’m signed up for next season with Tids [Michael Tidser] and Peaso [Peter MacDonald].
“I signed a two-year deal when I first came.
“Because I was a young boy, I said to the manager: ‘Gaffer, I’m young and just want to play games, but one year in this division isn’t enough security for me.’ “He understood and because I was young, he got it done as well, so I’m signed up for next year already.” Irishman Pepper says he is more than content with life at Cappielow and points to Michael Tidser as an example of a player who has shown how important it is to be happy in football. He added: “I’m enjoying my time here. As long as you’re playing and enjoying being around the place, every footballer is happy. It’s good.
“Michael Tidser would probably tell you that more than anyone. He went down to England and had a tough time, and he just wanted to be somewhere he knows and enjoys.
“I get on really, really well with the boys here and I like where we are, the facilities and the training.
“There are a lot of young boys, and everyone just wants everyone else to do well. It’s good if the guy next to you wants you to do well and he’ll help you out. That includes outside of football. I didn’t know Glasgow one bit, but everyone helped me out.
“The two McCluskeys have been very good.
“Ross Caldwell basically stays round the corner from me and Ross Forbes has been very good.
“They’re a good group of lads.
“So I’m happy to be here next season. With Michael and that signed up, I think we’ll be a stronger side — and hopefully that’ll be in the Championship because that’s what everyone here wants.”
