Midfielder Tidser has been sidelined by a knee injury which has caused him to miss matches against Dumbarton, Elgin City, Falkirk and Hibs so far this season The last time the Tele spoke to the 25-year-old, he was concerned by the fact he wasn’t seeing any improvement and felt he may require a scan to get to the root of the problem.

However, Tidser had more encouraging news this time around, revealing there has been positive progress of late, although the derby has still come too early for him.

He told the Tele: “The injury is getting better. I’ve been at gym every day this week, doing a lot of running, getting treatment on it.

“On Wednesday, I was trying wee passes with the ball and it felt alright. I don’t want to tempt fate, but I’ll try and up it over the next couple of days and see how it goes.

“I’m not far away, I don’t think.

“The way I’m feeling, physically and mentally, it definitely feels better than it was a week ago.

“I’ve not trained for three or four weeks, so there’s no chance of me being involved against St Mirren, no.

“That’s a major source of disappointment. I’m gutted to miss any game obviously but there’s the added spice with the fact it’s a derby at Cappielow and it’s in the league.

“So I’m disappointed but I’m just trying to keep positive and focused on what I need to do to get myself back playing.” Although he hasn’t been involved in full training, Tidser is still in at Parklea on a daily basis and he says there has been a real air of anticipation around the Ton’s Port Glasgow base this week.

He added: “The boys are all buzzing for the game, and that goes without saying with it being a local derby.

“I thought they did really well at Hibs. I thought we maybe deserved a draw, but that’s football: it can be cruel times.

“Hopefully the boys can go out and produce another good performance tomorrow and get the three points.”
