The Morton boss has already secured the services of Birmingham City frontman Denny Johnstone and Rangers defender Luca Gasparotto on temporary deals so far this summer.

And he confirmed he has made enquiries with contacts down south when asked if there would be any further Ton dealings before the deadline.

Duffy told the Tele: “Will anything happen before the window shuts? I don’t know. At our level it’s not really that relevant as it’s usually loan players or players who’re out of contract you’re going for.

“We were never going to go and buy a player, so if he’s out of contract it doesn’t affect it and if he’s a loan it doesn’t affect it.

“The only thing I’ll need to double check is if we wanted a loan from down south. I think that might be different.

“We have made enquiries and asked the question. Sometimes you almost know the answer before you pick up the phone, but now and again you get a wee surprise.

“So you have to ask the question and see whether the player is available and whether the other variables fit in: if the player wants to come, if the budget is right, if the timing is right. And if it’s from down south, there’s whether he wants to come to Scotland and all this kind of stuff. There’s a multitude of factors so I genuinely don’t know if anything will happen before the deadline.” Meanwhile, Cappielow centre-half Gasparotto has been named in the full Canada squad for the North American nation’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers. The Canucks play Belize in the third round of the CONCACAF section, with the first leg set to be staged in Toronto on 4 September and the second leg in Belmopan on Tuesday 8 September.
