KERRY GRIFFIN Sharon Robertson & James Wilson from the Greenock IAKSA kickboxing class competed in the IAKSA open Kickboxing tournament last month at the Citadel Sports Centre in Ayr.
James, from Greenock, brought back a first place in the Intermediate men's section after another fine display, proving that he is an up and coming talent indeed.
Sharon & Kerry, both from Greenock, also fought exceptionally well. Sharon yet again stepped up to the intermediate ladies section and put in a excellent performance. Sharon managed to pick up a third place in the category and proved that she is capable of stepping up and competing at the next level.
However, special praise has to go to Kerry on this occasion as not only was this her first competitive competition, she went straight into the senior ladies division and managed to pick up a excellent second place after defeating a couple of experienced fighters en route to the final.
Coach, Robert, said: "The fighters who competed at this event done themselves extremely proud, they were all excellent. They deserve it as the efforts the put in in the class merits it. I am really pleased for them."
The students now have their eyes set on the next competition coming up on September 20th. This is a WKA event that will be held in Wishaw Sports Centre.
The classes run by Robert are held on a Monday and Thursday evenings. Anyone interested in attending the classes are more than welcome to come along.
You are free to visit the IAKSA website on www.iaksakickboxing.co.uk for the times of all the classes.
