Gourock lift IBM Trophy

GOUROCK Golf Club hosted this year's IBM Trophy, played among the four Inverclyde golf clubs, end ended up triumphant.

The four 12-man teams from Gourock, Greenock, Whinhill and Port Glasgow played against each other in a match-play format in which each club played against the other clubs.

The match was initially delayed due to the weather, but hard work from the Gourock green keeping staff ensured that the competition went ahead with minimal delay.

With the teams fielding an array of Inverclyde's finest golfers, the match was expected to be a tight afair between favourites Gourock and Greenock. In the end Gourock managed to edge out Greenock with a total of five points from their six matches, 0.5 points ahead of Greenock.

All clubs in Inverclyde would like to thank IBM for their support in promoting the game of golf in the district.
