Port bowler picked for Scotland
AFTER the international trial at Broxburn Bowling Club on 13 September, Sandy Wotherspoon from Port Glasgow BC was selected to play for Scotland in the international series next year at Worthing from 30 June to 4 July 2010.
The other teams taking part are Ireland, Wales and England.
Sandy is the lead in potentially a very strong team with Alister Kennedy second, Ian Campbell third and skipped by Davie Peacock. The Port bowler played for Scotland in 1992 and 1993 in a rink skipped by Willie Wood, so it is a welcome return to the international team.
Sandy's recent record is first-class. Apart from winning Port Glasgow's championship on many occasions, a feat in itself, Sandy won the Scottish singles two years ago, and was a beaten finalist a year ago, the same year he won the British Isles singles.
He has also represented Scotland at the World bowls singles and in other World events and is rated No 6 in the World bowls ranking.
