TOP TEAM: Club captain Peter Rice, Robert Bain, Thomas Innes and Norman Pettigrew.

Junior and adult golfers combined to compete in the Carter Trophy at Skelmorlie Golf Club.

The popular doubles greensome par competition was kindly sponsored this year by Norman Pettigrew of Pettigrew's Pharmacy.

A healthy field teed off on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

The early lead was taken by Fabiano Fallone and Ray Hyett, who had a wonderful 3 and 2 birdie finish to record a score of 4.2 under par.

This lead lasted until the middle of the field, when they were overtaken by Alasdair Bell and Sandy Riddell with a score of 4.8 under par.

After nervous glances at the scoreboard, Alasdair and Sandy were almost home and dry when the last group stormed into the clubhouse to pip them at the post.

Thomas Innes and Robert Bain returned a great score of 5.4 under par to carry the day.

Skelmorlie Golf Club would like to thank the competition sponsor, Norman Pettigrew, for his support of this event.

Competition result: 1st. T Innes and R Bain - 5.4; 2nd. A Bell and S Riddell - 4.8, 3rd. F Fallone and R Hyett - 4.2.
