GREENOCK golf ace Chris Doak will again play on the European Tour next season after successfully retaining his card.

The 35-year-old had to go all the way to Australia and take part in the Perth International just to make sure, but his marathon trip Down Under was worthwhile.

After securing a joint 36th place finish with rounds of 72, 73, 72 and 71, Chris’ card for next year was confirmed yesterday.

The top 110 players in the tour’s Race to Dubai rankings at the end of the weekend tourney all earn a slot for 2014.

And although Chris left it late to guarantee his place, he eventually made it with ten places to spare.

That lifted the pressure of recent weeks and drew congratulations from fellow players, including fellow Scot and former Open champion Paul Lawrie who hailed the achievement a ‘great effort’.
