PROFESSIONAL APPROACH: That's Greenock Golf Club's new young pro, Kevin Campbell.
GREENOCK Golf Club have appointed their first professional in over seven years as they attempt to attract additional members to the 680 who already play their golf over the course.
Kevin Campbell, who has spent the past four years with the Balmore club near Glasgow, has completed a degree with full honours at the University of Birmingham in Applied Golf Management Studies.
He said: "It is the only degree that combines with PTA membership."
Among a full range of applications to the sport, the course included coaching, sports science, sports psychology and nutrition. And, as Kevin explained, it also included a golf test over 36 holes to ascertain his playing ability.
He said: "As club professional I will be promoting a fully stocked shop and offering tuition and advice.
"I will be helping to promote the club and help move it forward."
Coaching will be directed at all levels, from beginners to elite golfers, but with a lot of work aimed at the junior members.
Kevin said: "I will also be promoting the sport among young people in the district. I will be hoping to provide a good service and be the best that I can be."
In the midst of all his duties, Kevin also aims to take part in a few professional competitions throughout the season.
