THE last batch of tickets on sale locally for John Simpson’s big Kelvin Hall fight next month have sold out.
John will now be roared on by a large contingent of local fight fans when he defends his Commonwealth featherweight crown against Liverpool’s Stephen Smith on Saturday 4 September.
The winner of the bout will earn themselves a shot at British title-holder Martin Lindsay.
Also on the bumper bill is the showpiece clash between Ricky Burns and Roman Martinez.
John, pictured, told the Tele he was pleased to have such strong backing from fans and sponsors - and vowed not to let them down.
He said: “The tickets down here have sold out now and I’m really happy with that.
“I’ve lost my last two fights up here, so I know I have to produce the goods this time.”
l John would like to thank his sponsors, Mitchell’s Hire Drive, and Drew McKenzie, of Robert Alexander Butchers.
