EX-England manager Kevin Keegan could be setting up home in Inverkip.

The Telegraph understands the football icon has snapped up a house in the exclusive Kip Marina Village.

Cult hero Keegan has also been spotted dining in a marina restaurant in recent weeks.

Inverkip is buzzing with excitement about the prospect of the Liverpool legend moving to the banks of the Clyde.

It is believed that he has bought a villa in the much sought after location where house prices start at £125,000 but are expected to top the £1 million mark.

Inverkip Hotel staff say Kevin Keegan would be more than welcome to enjoy a pint with local punters.

Manager Margaret Waggott is unfazed by Inverkip's popularity with celebrities.

She said: `Inverkip is a very friendly place and is a lovely village. We do get people coming over here from the marina.` But Keegan is following in the footsteps of other big names spotted in Inverkip like Robert Carlyle, Taggart star Blythe Duff and Harry Potter actor Robbie Coltrane.

Liverpool striker Keegan was one of Bill Shankly's boys and carved out an illustrious career both at home and with German giants Hamburg.

He managed Newcastle and Fulham before stepping into the England job in 1999, but resigned nearly two years later.

Developers Manor Kingdom remained tight-lipped when asked if Keegan was their latest celebrity customer. A spokeswoman said: `We never comment on who buys our homes.`
