GREENOCK residents are gearing up for a Royal big day of their own.

Members of the community and the Paton Street Neighbourhood Centre management committee are organising a street party to celebrate the Royal Wedding.

Prince William and Kate Middleton, inset, are getting married on Friday 29 April and the Bow Farm residents are making the most of occasion.

They are planning a big day of their own to celebrate and get the community involved.

Paton Street Neighbourhood Centre manager Rose McAulay said: "It's something for the kids and the adults to get involved in together.

"Everyone has been really keen to mark the occasion." Bow Farm resident Donald Campbell said: "The people who use the cafe at the centre came up with the idea of having a street party and a fun day for the Royal wedding.

"It all just tied in together for people to have a good day.

"Lots of people remember Charles and Diana's wedding.

"There will be lots of stuff on the day - a bouncy castle, bungee run, gladiator duel, disco dome, barbecue and music roadshow. Everything on the day will be free.

"The kids have been making flags and bunting, and helping to deliver leaflets for the street party." The street party will take place from noon to 4pm at Tay Street.

On Friday, residents held a fundraising race night ahead of the street party.
