FOUNDATIONS have started being laid as construction on Inverclyde's newest school ramps up.
The framework for the new 44 million Port Glasgow shared campus on the site of the former Port Glasgow High School were laid last week.
Construction of the state-of-the-art facility is in its early stages after demolition works at the site was successfully completed.
A name for the new build is set to be put to parents.
The suggested title is 'Port Glasgow Community Campus' and it will be the subject of a consultation exercise before a decision is taken.
Work on the new school is on schedule for completion in July 2013.
