Hospital friends' 40th THE Inverclyde League of Hospital Friends is holding its 40th anniversary dinner in the Tontine Hotel on Friday 21 September.

It will be addressed by Margaret Mackay, a founder member, and the anniversary cake will be cut by former Strathclyde regional councillor Elspeth Riddell who was the charity's first chairperson.


Church hosts craft fair A CRAFT fair will be held in Old Gourock and Ashton Parish Church on Saturday.

The event takes place in the church hall in Binnie Street from 10am to 4pm. There will be a range of stalls and a tearoom. Tables are priced at �15.

All profits will go towards church funds.


Running festival 2012 KILMACOLM Running Festival 2012 will take place on Sunday 16 September at Birkmyre Park Fitness Gym.

The event, starting at 8am, will include 10k and 3k races, a half marathon and a 'toddle waddle' for younger children.

St Mary's bingo event A BINGO night will be held at St Mary's Episcopal Church in Port Glasgow's Bardrainney Avenue on Monday 17 September. It will start at 7.30pm.

Entry costs �1 and this includes tea, coffee and refreshments. All church members and visitors will be made welcome.


Writing club starts GREENOCK Writers' Club will start back on Wednesday 19 September at 7.30pm in Ardgowan Club, Ardgowan Square.

New members are welcome.
