FORMER Morton defender Jim Duffy has been appointed as Kenny Shiels’ successor at Cappielow, the club have confirmed.

The Clyde boss resigned from his position at Broadwood today and a statement posted on the Cumbernauld club's website revealed the 55-year-old had accepted an approach from the Ton.

It reads: “Clyde FC can confirm that Jim Duffy has resigned from his position as first team manager this afternoon. Jim has accepted the offer of becoming manager of Greenock Morton.

"The club wishes to thank Jim for his work during his time at The Bully Wee and we wish him every success for the future.” Morton later confirmed the appointment via their official Twitter account, stating: "The club would like to welcome back Jim Duffy to Morton - our new first-team manager.

"Jim played for Morton in the '80s, playing over 100 matches over three years at the club."
