Sports car torched AN EXPENSIVE sports car was deliberately torched in a Greenock street.

An investigation is under way after an attack on a BMW 5-series on Roxburgh Street just before midnight on Thursday.

Detectives are checking if the blaze could be linked to a spate of other incidents earlier this week which were connected to one another.

Officers are not ruling out a link between the fire and two car vandalism cases a few days previously.

Those incidents were connected to a serious assault at the BP filling station on Inverkip Road and the deliberate driving of a van into a house in Westmorland Road.

Of the Roxburgh Street blaze, Detective Constable Gordon Gibson of Greenock CID said: “We’ve still to look into it and enquiries are ongoing.” Anyone with information should phone police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
