THE Stephen McGowan murder inquiry has moved into its fourth day.
As detectives from Police Scotland continue their probe into the 23-year-old’s death, the officer in charge of the investigation, Detective Chief Inspector Jim Smith of the Major Investigation Team, said: “We have had a very good response from the public so far however I am keen to trace the driver of a silver vehicle, believed to be a Volvo 850 series, which was travelling in Lynedoch Street, Greenock around 3.20am on Sunday.
“We know that a number of parties were ongoing in Lynedoch Street and Lyle Street around this time and that Stephen had been at a party in Lynedoch Street until the early hours of Sunday morning.
“I am very keen to trace everyone who was in and around this area and who has not yet been spoken to by police. I urge these people to come forward immediately.
“I would also still like to speak to anyone who either saw or spoke with Stephen on either Saturday 28 or Sunday 29 July and who hasn’t already spoken to police.” Information can be given to Police Scotland on 101, or alternatively via CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.
