The masked raider made off with a four-figure sum of cash after threatening a staff member with violence.
CID officers are today poring over CCTV footage as part of efforts to capture the suspect.
DC Scott Clark told the Telegraph: “A weapon was produced.
“The male staff member who was threatened was not hurt but has been shaken by the incident.” The suspect - who has a local accent - is described as around 5ft 9ins tall and of thin build. He was wearing a black hooded top with its hood up, black jogging bottoms and half of his face was masked with a dark-coloured scarf. The man - who is said to be around 30 years of age - was also wearing gloves and blue running shoes.
DC Clark said: “The suspect entered the premises at around 10.25pm - around closing time.
“He approached the staff member who was cashing up the takings and demanded the monies. A four-figure sum was handed over and the man made off from the locus.” It is not clear whether the robber fled on foot or if there was a vehicle involved.
DC Clark said: “CCTV enquiries are ongoing and officers will be interviewing staff this morning.” If you can help police with this matter, call 101.
