TEENY tennis stars made a racquet at an action-packed holiday training camp.

It was game, set and match at Ardgowan Tennis Club as the sporty tots got to grips with the game by learning the basic techniques before trying out their new found skills on the court.

Chris Jewell, the club convenor, says it has been one of the most successful camps to date.

He said: “We’ve had about 70 kids coming every day so I think it has been one of the busiest camps we’ve had.

“This may well be as a result of more children wanting to get into sport after being inspired by the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

“At the camp, which was held in Fort Matilda during the first week, the children have enjoyed playing fun games and have also been developing their hand and eye co-ordination as well as practising the basic strokes.” Throughout the two week camp, there have been morning sessions for youngsters aged between five and nine as well as an afternoon session for older kids aged from 10 to 15.

Chris added: “It’s been great and the camp is much loved. As well as this Easter camp we also have a four to five week summer camp.” For more information about the club phone 723418, go to the www.ardgowanclub.co.uk page or look up their Facebook page.
