AN imaginative Greenock schoolgirl has received an award at the Edinburgh International Science Festival.
Charis Carroll was runner-up in the Sci-Ku competition which is a three-line Haiku (Japanese) poem about science.
The primary five pupil, who attends Ardgowan Primary, penned her poem on the eclipse.
Her poem reads: ‘Moon blocks out sunlight, World goes black for a second, Light comes back again’.
Judges praised the entry, saying: “Very clever description of the eclipse. It shows how economical you can be with words.”
