GREENOCK bus firm McGill's have been named among the top Scottish businesses for the second year in a row.

The Larkfield-based operator has featured once again on Scotland’s Business Insider 500 - the long-established league table of the country’s best-performing companies.

McGill's entered the league table for the first time last year and has now moved up 50 places.

The company, which is owned by Greenock businessmen Sandy and James Easdale, is now ranked at position 350 in Scotland’s business elite.

Managing director, Ralph Roberts, pictured, said: "We are pleased to see that the sterling efforts of the team have been recognised in this year’s Insider League table, confirming McGill’s worthy place among the Scottish business community.

"We have ambitious growth plans for 2016, and believe that our continuous investment in quality vehicles, a focused management team and the commitment and backing of the company’s owners, will continue to drive the business forward this year, and beyond."

The company's league table ranking comes on the back of a 4.2 per cent increase in turnover in McGill's latest set of published accounts.

Mr Roberts said: "McGill’s has built an enviable reputation for providing a first-class service across our operating areas, and we are confident that our model, which puts our customers at the heart of what we do, will see Scotland’s largest independent transport company continue its march towards the top of the table."
