A HOLLYWOOD star from Inverclyde is encouraging others to follow in his footsteps by raising money to help people suffering from cancer.
Teenage actor John Bell, who starred in the blockbuster Hobbit series, climbed two mountains last year in aid of the Beatson Cancer Charity as a touching tribute to his grandmother Irene Bell who sadly lost her battle against lung cancer.
He is now on a mission to inspire others to sign up for the charity’s ‘Challenge Arrochar’ to raise vital funds for thousands of cancer patients and their families across Scotland.
Irene underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy at the Beatson but sadly passed away on May 23 last year.
John, from Kilmacolm, said: “My granny was a woman with a warm heart and no matter what life threw at her she never lost her determination.”
For fitness fanatics or steady strollers, there is a choice of three different challenges to suit all fitness levels at the event on Saturday June 18.
Ranging from the one peak of The Cobbler to the three peaks circuit which also includes Beinn Ime and Beinn Narnain, there is a challenge for everyone.
