ECO Warriors at St Andrew’s Primary waged war on rubbish to make a clean sweep of their area.
Primary six pupils decided to have a tidy-up as part of their eco and bio-diversity topic.
Children have been making their own school recycling bins and also received a visit from Inverclyde Council’s recycling officer.
Class teacher Erin Pyott said: “They started to look at the amount of litter in the playground and in the local area where they played and walked at weekends.
“I think it’s a fantastic initiative. It’s something they came up with themselves and they are encouraging the whole school to become more green.”
The youngsters gathered around a dozen bags of litter from Burns Square Children’s Park and Cumberland Road.
