EYE-catching paintings featuring some of Inverclyde’s iconic landmarks are going on display in Port Glasgow.
Creative mum-of-one Louise Carr, from Greenock, says it’s a dream come true to have her work showcased at Port Glasgow library until Thursday June 2.
The 30-year-old from Ann Street, who has a four-year-old son Landon, said she is inspired not only by local landmarks but also by the gloomy weather conditions.
She told the Tele: “My paintings are of places in Gourock, Greenock and Port Glasgow.
“I take inspiration from the weather which can be dull and bleak here.
“But I try to make it into something beautiful.
“I’ve always wanted to do an exhibition like this — it’s amazing.”
Louise, who has HNDs in both fine art and fashion design, said she goes out and takes photos of things that catch her eye in the local area before painting them.
She said: “I’ll have about 20 paintings on display.
“My favourite is probably the one I did of the lighthouse in Port Glasgow.
“I’ve also got paintings of the cranes and of Ferguson’s shipyard.”
Louise, who uses acrylic paint on canvas, brings her paintings alive using other raw materials.
She added: “I like using ropes, twigs, seashells and clay.”
