AN OUTSTANDING Greenock musician who has played alongside the likes of Rod Stewart and Michael Bublé is set to return to her home town for a special one-off concert.

Top class violinist Eve Kennedy will be performing with ‘entrancing’ pianist James Willshire at the Town Hall in what promises to be a wonderful, unstuffy classical show.

And young people under the age of 16 will be admitted to the event free of charge in a bid by the melodic duo to ‘inspire’ a new generation of superlative performers.

Eve — who first picked up a violin at the age of eight as a pupil of Ardgowan Primary School — said: “It will be a fun and relaxed evening.

“I’m hoping some young people come along from the local schools and hopefully be inspired by what they hear.”

Talented Eve, 24, is now based in London after securing a coveted place as part of the capital city’s world-class Southbank Sinfonia orchestra.

Prior to that, she attended Scotland’s Junior Royal Conservatoire as a prodigious young teenage talent before advancing to the Royal Conservatoire itself and studying there for four years.

Another metaphorical string to her bow has been the opportunity to perform in four ‘wild’ sold-out shows with superstar Rod Stewart.

Eve hit the stage with the legendary singer as his European tour rolled in to the Glasgow Hydro in 2014 — and helped him belt out hits including ‘Do Ya Think I’m Sexy’ in front of crowds of 16,000 people.

She’s also played live with American singer Michael Bublé, describing his fans as ‘crazy’.

She laughed: “You had young screaming girls, as well as old ladies dancing and singing.”

The 33-strong Southbank Sinfonia, of which Eve is now an integral part, plays everything from Baroque to contemporary and opera to jazz.

Her Greenock concert with James — which will take place in the Grand Hall on November 4 at 7.30pm — will include pieces from Mozart and Dvorak.

Eve — who will give a spoken introduction to each composition — said: “It won’t be a stuffy classical concert.

“There’s not a lot of classical music concerts in Greenock, so it will be a bit different.

“I did a concert in Greenock in 2013 and it was really well received.

“I’m doing a few more between now and the end of the year, so it’s a good opportunity to do another one in Greenock.

“I’m looking forward to it.

“It’s a really nice venue to get the chance to play in.”

Tickets for the Greenock event — which can be purchased on entry — are priced at £10 for adults and £8 for concessions and include a complimentary glass of wine or soft drink.
