A HIT comedy starring one of the Nolan sisters and a former EastEnders actress is heading to Greenock.

An all-star cast featuring Maureen Nolan and Cheryl Fergison, aka Albert Square’s Heather Trott, will take to the stage at the Beacon Arts Centre next year.

Casualty’s Rebecca Wheatley and Ruth Berkeley, from The Al Murray Show, complete the line-up of famous faces, pictured.

Following previous sell-out UK and Irish tours in 2008, 2010 and most recently in early 2016, Menopause the Musical is hitting the road again in the spring and will stop off in Greenock on Saturday February 18.

This hilarious celebration of women and ‘the change’, is an all-singing, all-dancing comedy bringing together four women at a department store sale, who on first appearance have nothing in common.

However, the sale of a black lace bra soon stimulates comical female heart-to-hearts on hot flushes, night sweats, memory loss, chocolate binges, their love lives – or lack of – and plastic surgery.

Armed with a cast of hormonal women, memory loss one-liners and innuendo-laden versions of pop classics the tour commences on February 7 in Inverness and continues on to a further 42 venues around the UK, including the Beacon.
Menopause The Musical debuted in March 2001 in Orlando, Florida, in a 76-seat theatre that once housed a perfume shop. Written by Jeanie Linders, the show appealed to a particular audience and huge numbers flocked to see it.

It has since been performed across the US in cities such as Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles and its current home at Harrah’s in Las Vegas.

The show has also received international acclaim having been performed in Australia, Canada, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, South Africa and South Korea.

Across the world over 11 million people have seen it.

Audiences in Greenock will be able to watch former Celebrity Big Brother contestant and accomplished musician Cheryl, whose soap character met a grisly end at the hands of Ben Mitchell in EastEnders four years ago, strut her stuff alongside Nolan sister Maureen, who performed with the iconic girl group and shot to fame with their legendary 1979 hit ‘I’m In the Mood for Dancing’.

Co-star Rebecca is best known as the receptionist Amy Howard on Casualty and has performed in numerous West End productions while Irish actress and singer Ruth Berkeley has also appeared in a long list of stage and TV shows, including Sky Atlantic’s gripping Penny Dreadful.

Menopause the Musical will be on in Greenock at 5pm and 8pm.
