FORMER Celtic manager Neil Lennon is heading to Greenock next month to face a grilling – all in the name of charity.

The former Hoops boss and current Hibernian gaffer will be interviewed by top sports journalist Graham Hunter live on stage in the town hall before taking questions from the audience.

The event is being organised by Greenock actor and Celtic supporter Martin Compston in aid of Ardgowan Hospice.

It will be the Line of Duty star’s third annual fundraiser for the charity, of which he is a patron.

Last year the former Morton youth player brought Frankie Boyle to the venue for a comedy night while his pals, indie rockers The View, headlined a concert there in 2014.

Both were sell-outs and raised almost £30,000 for the charity.

Now it’s the turn of former Celtic boss Lennon in ‘The Big Interview’ with Spanish football expert Hunter on December 16.

Martin said: “It’s that time of year again for the Ardgowan Hospice Christmas Gala and it’s a big act to follow the brilliant Frankie Boyle from last year. I’m over the moon to announce on Friday December 16 at Greenock Town Hall for the first time ever The Big Interview with the brilliant Graham Hunter will be recorded live with guest Neil Lennon.”

During the evening Graham will quiz the Parkhead idol on his career and this will be followed by an audience Q&A.

Organiser Martin said: “It should be a cracking night.”

Actor Martin is set to star in new ITV drama ‘In Plain Sight’, which was partly shot in Greenock, portraying notorious serial killer Peter Manuel.

But he has taken time out of his busy schedule to arrange the third instalment of his popular hospice Christmas gala nights.

Special guest Lennon was part of the famous Celtic team that won a treble before reaching the Uefa Cup final in Seville in 2003.

He also played more than 150 games for Leicester City.

Journalist Graham Hunter, who runs the popular ‘The Big Interview’ podcast, says he is looking forward to what will be a ‘fun’ night in Greenock ‘all in aid of the vital work of Ardgowan Hospice’.
