DETECTIVES are today continuing a probe into an attack which left a pub doorman in hospital.
The door steward was attacked by four men at a Greenock pub on Saturday night.
They set upon the 24-year-old at Lithgows, pictured, on Cathcart Street, at 8.40pm.
He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment after the incident.
A number of police vehicles and an ambulance rushed to the scene when the alarm was raised.
The victim suffered a small injury to his eyebrow but because it will result in a scar the incident is being treated by police as a serious assault.
Officers were said to be following a positive line of inquiry but no arrests had been made as of this morning.
The town was busy at the time of the incident and Greenock CID have appealed for any witnesses to contact them.
Anyone who witnessed the serious assault or has information should contact Greenock CID on 101 or alternatively phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
