HOSPICE supporters will be right on time as they join the charity’s latest fundraising venture.
They are being invited to host a ‘tea at 3’ or ‘wine at 9’ party next month.
Work colleagues or friends can enjoy a cuppa and cake bake sale, or gather a group of friends around for a bite to eat and their favourite tipple and help the hospice.
The idea is that everyone who attends makes a donation in lieu of what they would spend on a night out.
Sandra Kerr, who welcomes patients and families at the Access at Ardgowan centre, is looking forward to taking part.
She said: “There’s nothing to beat a cuppa and a chat — it just relaxes you, but I also like everyone coming together to unwind with a glass of wine.
“This idea is a great way to raise funds for the hospice and have that much needed catch up with your friends and family.”
Hospice bosses say that whether it’s £1 or £100, it can all make a difference to people living with cancer in Inverclyde.
Staff nurse Angela Burns said: “It’s a great idea.”
Michele Sweeney, ward clerk, quipped: “I think the wine party might be more popular than afternoon tea for people who are working but everyone can take part in some way to help the hospice.
“It’s a bit of fun.”
Elizabeth Jennings, a nurse specialist with the hospice, added: “I think events like this help to show a different side of the hospice, people having a bit of fun but raising awareness as well.”
