POLICE say the A8 in Greenock will remain partially closed over the weekend following the fire which devastated the McKechnie Jess factory.
Inspector Julie Davenport from Greenock Police Office said: “Public safety remains our priority and the current road closures will remain in place over the weekend.
“The A8 westbound carriageway is facilitating a contraflow for vehicles travelling in both directions and the eastbound carriageway is currently closed.
“The B788 is closed between Auchmountain Road, Greenock (at Knocknairshill Cemetery) and Dougliehill Road, and diversions are in place.
“Due to these restrictions, I would ask drivers to allow extra time for their journey as delays are likely, and to take extra care when driving through the affected area.”
