BLAIRMORE nursery kids stole the show with their sales patter as they offloaded fruit and veg at a national enterprise event.

The cute youngsters won the hearts of the judges at the Social Enterprise Academy showcase in Edinburgh.

They were invited to take part in the event following on from their success in a Dragon’s Den-style competition in Inverclyde.

Blairmore pitched a winning idea to sell fruit and vegetables in the nursery — and it has caught on.

Nursery support worker Jacqui Jack said: “They were brilliant at selling the fruit and vegetables in the market place

“No one could get past them.

“We had a great day in Edinburgh for the award. The kids were just brilliant.

“They were the only nursery children involved and we are very proud of all the children involved in the project.

“It’s been a real team effort.

“They have been selling their goods every week and parents bring the money.”

Blairmore were invited to the big event along with St Ninian’s Primary pupils, who have been running a successful smoothie making enterprise.

The nursery kids were presented with an award by Yvonne Strachan from the Scottish Government.

Claire Fraser, education co-ordinator at the Social Enterprise Academy, said: “Blairmore Nursery is a shining example of inspiring education-based social enterprise run by young people for a social purpose.

“Their enterprise was set up to promote healthy eating in their schools and wider community and they use profits to support local charities.”
