GIBSHILL Children’s Centre is saying goodbye to one of its longest-serving staff members as she retires after 31 years.
Norma Dougan, 58, has worked as an early years education and childcare officer at the nursery since 1986 and thinks now is the right time to step down.
She said: “It’s been brilliant, I have so many great memories from working here.
“I have seen plenty of changes for the good during my time, this place has been a real asset to the community.
“My colleagues have all been wonderful, especially in the last few years, so I’ll really miss the place.
“I want to thank them, the children and their parents for everything over these past 31 years.”
Norma, from Jean Street in Port Glasgow, now says she’s looking forward to spending more time with her two grandsons in Innellan, and to rediscovering her love of painting.
She added: “I’ve been doing watercolour paintings for years and it’s something I can’t wait to get back into.
“I’m looking forward to a relaxing retirement.”
